Recruiting Gone Wrong - My Crappy Resume MyCrappyResume is the place for you to share your professional HR (mis)adventures, for the amusement and betterment of all cubicle-kind. Post that story of your nightmare interview, the clueless applicant, or that time you accidentally forwarded your fantasy football stats instead of your resume. Some of the gems are [one_half last=no]Clubbing as Hobby? I read through a CV that had included clubbing in their hobbies/ interests section. I think thats not a very professional thing to add anyway, but particularly not for the ISLAMIC development bank, based out of Saudi Arabia![/one_half] Sorry gotta rush! During the interview, an alarm clock went off from a candidates brief case. He took it out, shut it off, apologized and said he had to leave for another interview. [one_half last=no]Deal with what! I was interviewing a young man for a customer service position. He had worked at a hair salon, and in describing his experience there, he said, I had to deal with a lot of old biddies. Needless to say, thats where his candidacy ended.[/one_half] [one_half last=yes]Boss Jokes my boss-to-be pulled out my resume with an angry look, and asked âWHAT is this?!â It was a page full of random characters, from copyright symbols to Pounds Sterling, with my name in 72-pt font across the top. I was horrified; he started laughing. He made it up![/one_half] [button color=orange link=http://mycrappyresume.com target=_blank]Read More from MCR[/button] 0

Good Ways of Writing a Resume For Management
Good Ways of Writing a Resume For ManagementGood ways of writing a resume for management is a different matter. An effective CV is one that has the right mix of information about the candidate and which can be easily edited later, as needed. In fact, another good way of writing a resume for management is to make it look like a resume that was written by an employee and therefore, the HR personnel should not be distracted by some formalities at this stage. Rather, the hiring personnel should simply follow a similar format in order to ensure that the CV remains simple and easy to read, as it is now. When looking for good ways of writing a resume for management, it is a good idea to remember that you will need to put your best foot forward when applying for jobs in a career of management, because you are joining a company where you are expected to lead. Your CV should therefore be something that is more 'transparent' than the typical CV that you may have written for an entry-level job.Mos t managers need to have a strong background in both business and accounting, because of the nature of their jobs. It is therefore important to have your CV show this. For example, do not try to throw in a bit of artistic license here, but instead use more scientific language that has a proper balance between what is necessary and what can be creatively included. Also, if you are a good artist, you can always use it here, as well as on various topics of your choice. Do remember, however, that in the case of a management position, your objective should be to use some of your business expertise to lead the company. The summary section of your CV can also include such things as your educational background, your professional achievements, any company affiliations you may have, the most recent positions you held in the past, etc. This is perhaps the best way of writing a resume for management, as it will all point to how talented you are at the business, as well as how knowledgeable you are in a particular area.References should also be included in your CV. Some references could be the likes of supervisors, as well as any business partners you may have, but you must remember that every firm is required to provide certain minimum requirements.Good ways of writing a resume for management should include including the following: Education, educational qualifications, academic achievements, previous employment details, current employment details, and references. Using these tips, the CV should be ready before you begin the interview process.

The World of Zero Hour Jobs Understanding Your Employment Contract IM HIRED
The World of Zero Hour Jobs Understanding Your Employment Contract Answering your Employment Contract Questions Zero hour contracts are definitely a controversial subject. According to a survey conducted by the ONS 26.6% of employees on these types of contracts want more hours. This begs the question why dont these contracts offer more stability? But before analysing the reasons for this lack of consistency in hours. What exactly is a zero hour contract? Well simply put its a employment contract that allows employers to hire staff with no guarantee of hours. So if youve just aced your interview and landed yourself a job but youre not sure what you should or shouldnt believe about this contract type, here are your questions answered. Why do Employers use Zero Hour Contracts? It offers an employer a flexible work force. Meaning theyre able to increase staff numbers during periods of peak and reduce numbers as workloads decline. This helps to maintain a balancing act without having to pay wages for employees who arent needed. Or have mass recruitment drives when work picks up pace. Who is on Zero Hour Contracts? The Office for National Statistics stated that between April and June 2017, 883,000 people were on these types of contracts. Typically, they were seen to be young people working on average 25.2 hours per week. Whilst there is no particular profile for a zero hour worker, its used for causal workers. Industries such as retail, production and hospitality to just name a few. What are your rights on a Zero Hour Contract? Youll have all the same employment rights as any other type of employee. The only exception being breaks (which are accrued based on hours worked.) Zero hour contractors are entitled to holiday pay, national minimum wage and payment for any work related travel. There is protection put in place to avoid any exclusivity clauses being added to your contract. (Basically meaning an employer cant insist you become a one job woman!) What is the notice period for these types of contracts? As youre not contracted to any hours a notice period isnt required. If you want to maintain a good relationship with an employer normally an agreed notice period would be carried out. Unfortunately this works both ways. An employer doesnt have to give you any notice if work is no longer available. Are there any benefits of Zero Hour Contracts? The main benefit of this contract type is the ability to be flexible in your working hours. You have the right to agree or reject your working hours. If youve other commitments such as family responsibilities or youre in full time or part time education this could work better with your schedule. Do you get Holiday Pay with Zero Hour Contracts? Workers are also entitled to take paid leave and must also be paid any holiday that is owing to them when their employment contract is terminated. Holiday pay for zero hour contracts is its accrued on the average hours worked over a 12 week period. Meaning you will have to calculate your holiday entitlement.

Best Professional Resume Writing Services
Best Professional Resume Writing ServicesBefore considering the services of a resume writing service, it is very important to see what the best way is to approach the problem. The issue is whether you should approach the issue from the point of view of the recruiter or from the perspective of your self. Is it better to be the recruiter or the employee? Is it better to be the employer or the employee?Resume writing services can help you make the right decision regarding the above question. For example, if you are a recruiter, you will have several things on your mind including the quality of your material, whether the content is adequate, the number of applicants who are qualified and you should also consider the cost involved in hiring someone else. But if you are the employer, you will have very little time and resources so you will probably want to hire the applicant and not the person who wrote the resume. So you may only have time to send out resumes once a year. Now let us take a step back and see if there is any way that you can have both? The answer is yes, and this is where many people fail to differentiate between the two. You are probably thinking that the recruiter can request for another resume but this is only possible if the person who wrote the other resume is much more qualified than you. Unfortunately, no one is that much more qualified than the person who sent you the other resume. So the best way to find the best professional resume writing services would be to give priority to yourself as an employer and then give a higher priority to the recruiter. This way, you will have a better chance of getting the job and you will also be assured that the person will also get the job as well. Of course, you may have to pay a higher price for the service but you will know that the applicant will not be rejected easily and there is a good chance that the new employee will also be more qualified than the candidate you sent the resume to. Remember, hiring th e employee is more costly than hiring the recruiter so it is better to save money and not waste the recruiter's time.If you are looking for the best professional resume writing services, the best place to find these services is online. This way, you will be able to search through all the major resume writing services in the world and select the best one. From these services, you will then be able to choose the best of the best and get the results you desire.Since you already have the task of finding a good service, you will be able to concentrate on the work of making the new business opportunity come to you. On the other hand, if you choose to work with the recruiter, you may have to consider doing this work yourself. If you are an employer, you may have to consider letting the recruiter handle the job and his skills may not be all that great so he may not have the experience that you need.Resume writing services can save you time as well as money and you will also be able to find the best professional resume writing services on the Internet so that you will not waste your time or your money. Even if you already have some experience in resume writing, you can use these services to make your resume better and even save time.

The 50 Best Places to Work, According to LinkedIn
The 50 Best Places to Work, According to LinkedIn As Amazon continues to expand its reach into just about every part of peopleâs lives, itâs also become the most desirable place to work. LinkedIn just released its third annual list of the top companies to work for, and Amazon hit No. 1 for the 2018 ranking, toppling former leader Alphabet (Googleâs holding company). The employment-related site sorted through data from its 546 million users around the world to come up with the selections. âWe look at the actions of professionals, what people are doing, the jobs that are really sought after these days, rather than just what theyâre saying,â LinkedIn news editor Laura Lorenzetti says. While she notes that all the top employers are extremely close, Amazonâs ascent seems to reflect employeesâ drive for purpose in what they do every day, as opposed to simply a hope for lucrative pay and lavish perks. âAmazon is willing to innovate in big ways and take risks,â Lorenzetti says. âWe heard over and over [from job seekers] that they really want to make a difference. They want to see their work come to life.â Thatâs not to say perks donât matter. One of the intriguing patterns in LinkedInâs 2018 list involves companies that are trying to offer new, enticing possibilities for health care to employees. Amazon and JPMorgan Chase Co. (No. 18) recently partnered with Berkshire Hathaway to develop a company that aims to cut enormous costs and burdens in health coverage for their staffs. Apple (No. 6) is launching medical clinics to deliver exceptional coverage for its workers. And then there are the more fun extras, like Alphabetâs newest offices that offer sky-high dog parks, indoor fire pits, and bouldering walls. Or Teslaâs carpool program, which allows staff to drive a coveted Tesla to work and then hang onto it for the weekend. Here are all the 2018 LinkedIn Top Companies ranked below. For more details on the specific companies in the top 50, click here. And, thinking about applying for a gig? You better get your LinkedIn profile in shape.
